How cooking works with an insert for pressure cookers

Use your pressure cooker as usual with the appropriate cooking levels and place the insert with tripod in the pot if required. The cooking levels depend on the preparation method and the dishes.

The Vitavit® Premium pressure cookers have 3 cooking levels:

  • Level 3 (240°F, fast cooking speed).
    • Corresponds to approximately ⅓ to ½ of the cooking time with a conventional saucepan and is ideal for meat or stews.
  • Stage 2 (235°F, medium cooking speed).
    • About 25% longer than level 3 and well suited for less delicate vegetables.
  • Level 1 (230°F, slow cooking speed)
    • About 50% longer than level 3 and well suited for delicate vegetables or fish.

The Vitaquick® series have 2 cooking levels:

  • Stage 2 (240°F, fast cooking speed).
    • Corresponds to approximately ⅓ to ½ of the cooking time with a conventional saucepan and is ideal for meat or stews.
  • Stage 1 (230°F, slow cooking speed).
    • Approximately 50% longer than level 3 and well suited for delicate vegetables or fish.

Preparing vegetables

  1. Fill the pot with a minimum amount of water. The liquid amount needed depends on the recipe
  2. Use the level indicator in the pot to measure your liquids correctly. Adhere to the maximum filling level according to the instructions for use.
  3. Place the cut vegetables in the steaming basket.
  4. Place the tripod in the pressure cooker and place the basket on top.
  5. Set the cooking crown to level 2 (Vitavit® Premium) or level 1 (Vitaquick®) and heat the pot on high.
  6. Reduce the heat as soon as the yellow ring appears and allow the contents to cook. Cooking time varies depending on the quantity of ingredients.
  7. To the cooking time finder
  8. After the cooking time, release the steam and remove the basket.

At the end of the cooking time, the pressure cooker release steam easily and safely using the steam-off function on the handle. The Vitavit® Premium can also release steam using the cooking crown.

Two level cooking

  1. Briefly sear the meat in the pressure cooker so that it stays nice and juicy.
  2. Pour some broth or other liquid and add herbs or spices, if necessary.
  3. Prepare your vegetables then place them in the special steaming basket.
  4. Place the corresponding tripod on the bottom of the pressure cooker and put the steaming basket on top.
  5. Close the lid. After the lid is securely locked in place, which can be heard by a click on the handle, the pressure will build-up and cooking time begins.
  6. At the end of the cooking time, release the steam using the steam-off function on the cooking crown or handle before opening the pressure cooker.
  7. First lift the basket out using the helpful handle.

Preparing broccoli in a pressure cooker

  1. Fill the Vitavit® Premium pressure cooker with a minimum amount of water.

  2. Place the broccoli in the perforated insert.

  3. Place the tripod in the pressure cooker and place the insert on it.

  4. Set the cooking crown to "steam cooking" and heat the pot.

  5. Since no pressure is built up during steam cooking, the cooking crown does not lift and the pot can be opened at any time without steaming off first.

  6. Tip: Remove the hot insert from the pressure cooker with a fork after the cooking time has elapsed.
